In December 1988, a few days after the earthquake in Armenia, a delegation of Marseille\u2019s Union Medicale Arm\u00e9nienne de France (UMAF) went to the scene of the tragedy, accompanied by the mayor of Marseilles Robert Vigouroux.
\nThe earthquake occurred on December 7th, 1988 (6.9 on the Richter scale) and made between 25,000 and 30,000 dead, 15,500 wounded and more than 300,000 homeless. To assist the victims, humanitarian aid came from many countries but also and especially from the whole armenian diaspora.<\/p>\n
