He would also like to make become aware that these textile products of religious Christians are &#8220;nonfigurative icons&#8221;, liturgical objects of oriental Christian churches and, next to the other textiles, the biggest contribution of the armenian Art to the art History of the whole world. This should a little be of use as Repairs to people which, during its history of more than 2000 years, suffered more than any other because of its geographical situation between the East and the West. It was divided by uncountable times, exploited, stolen, forced to the exile, forced to the emigration, deported, enslaved, murdered and dishonoured, deprived even of its art &#8211; the paternity of its works having afterward been awarded to the invaders, either due to the lack of knowledge, or by manipulation. The heritage of the motives for oriental carpets is an important element of the armenian Identity and it is necessary be considered as such. \/&#8230;SommaireRemerciementsApr\u00e8s les travaux de F.B.Martin en 1908 et de Kurt Erdmann en 1955, cet ouvrage constitue la troisi\u00e8me tentative pour pr\u00e9senter une histoire du tapis oriental&#8230;.\/L&#8217;objectif de l&#8217;auteur est non seulement de faire perdre au tapis d&#8217;Orient son nimbe fatal de tissu destin\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre pos\u00e9 sur le sol sur lequel on marche et remarche &#8211; les &#8220;barbares&#8221; europ\u00e9ens ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 les premiers \u00e0 le d\u00e9truire de leurs souliers. Il aimerait aussi faire prendre conscience que ces produits textiles de chr\u00e9tiens croyants sont des &#8220;icones non-figuratives&#8221;, des objets de cultes d&#8217;\u00e9glises chr\u00e9tiennes orientales et, \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 d&#8217;autres textiles, la plus grande contribution de l&#8217;art arm\u00e9nien \u00e0 l&#8217;histoire de l&#8217;art du monde entier. Ceci devrait un peu servir de r\u00e9paration \u00e0 un peuple qui, au cours de son histoire de plus de 2000 ans, a souffert plus que tout autre \u00e0 cause de sa situation g\u00e9ographique entre l&#8217;Orient et l&#8217;Occident. Il fut divis\u00e9 d&#8217;innombrables fois, exploit\u00e9, vol\u00e9, contraint \u00e0 l&#8217;exil, contraint \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9migration, d\u00e9port\u00e9, asservi, assassin\u00e9 et d\u00e9honor\u00e9, d\u00e9pouill\u00e9 m\u00eame de son art &#8211; la paternit\u00e9 de ses oeuvres ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 attribu\u00e9 par la suite aux envahisseurs, soit par manque de connaissance, soit par manipulation.
